June 12 (Monday)
NEW DIMENSION OF THE POLISH-UKRAINIAN PARTNERSHIP
Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against sovereign Ukraine, the Lodzkie Region has been helping migrants and residents of the partner regions who have chosen to remain in their homes despite the risk to their lives. The refugees were transported to Lodzkie Region by special trains deployed to the Polish-Ukrainian border. Moreover, humanitarian transports to Ukraine, but also for Ukrainian citizens residing in our region, are constantly being organised. For the whole of June, nearly 400 children from four partner regions – Chernivtsi, Odessa, Vinnitsa and Volyn – are able to rest at sports and language camps organised by the Lodzkie Region.
Obviously, more can be done, but it is important that the aid goes where it is most needed and in the most hoped-for form. For the tragedy of the Ukrainian people must not be forgotten. We cannot get used to the war in the East.
What kind of help should it be?
What kind of support do Ukrainians need from us?
What aspects should further cooperation be focused on?
How can we help them here, in Poland;
in Ukraine
Internationally?
This is something those concerned know best, which is why we invited representatives of the Lodzkie Region’s Ukrainian partner oblasts to a panel discussion on the situation in Ukraine, relationships with Poland, and regional cooperation.
