SPATIAL TRANSFORMATION – ARCHITECTURAL AND URBAN RESEARCH AS A SOURCE OF ECONOMIC INNOVATION
As part of this discussion panel, research on architecture and urban planning will be covered in the context of the optimisation of the design and investment process at the implementation stage. Indeed, there is a strong linkage between the high-level scientific research and the successful development of innovation both at a technological level and in strategic management. Research that tackles the most important and timely issues in the built environment provides invaluable potential for the development of the business environment for individual investors and local government units. The panellists will include academics from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Lodz University of Technology and, at the same time, experienced practitioners, designers and urban planners, and will engage in a discussion on the relevance of the Institute’s research to design practice on both urban and architectural scale. The debate will explore urban regeneration and recycling, and in the broader context – the optimisation of urban development management processes and their adaptation to climate change.
