TASTE POLAND: FROM FARM TO FORK – HEALTHY SPECIALTIES OF THE POLISH LAND
The first Provincial Market took place on September 10th this year. The organisation of the Market is the implementation of the idea of shortening the supply chain from the farmer, the agricultural producer, and the Farmers’ Wives’ Associations to the consumer. The inhabitants of Łódź were given the opportunity to buy directly from the sellers. Prior to the launch of the Market, after all formal requirements had been met, ŁARR S.A. prepared the infrastructure enabling the implementation of the above idea. The Market takes place under a roofed pavilion with an area of 500 m2, with stands fully equipped with electricity, chairs, and power sockets; technical support is also provided. It is possible to sell items directly from the car. Sanitary facilities and washbasins are also available to the sellers and customers. The Market takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Since the beginning of the Market, 1,050 farmers, producers and Farmers’ Wives’ Associations have exhibited their products and the Market has been visited by around 17,500 customers, which is an average of 30 sellers and 500 customers per each Market session. Since 6 May this year, the Festival of Flavours of the Lodz Region has been held at the Market, with cash prizes awarded to the winners in 15 flavour categories. The members of the Farmers’ Wives’ Associations and direct agricultural producers participate in the Festival. A festive Gala-Conference to conclude the Festival is planned for October 20th. There will also be workshops for students of culinary schools in the region, which will be organised by the Farmers’ Wives’ Associations. Partners in the implementation of the Market include: The Marshal’s Office of the Lodzkie Region and CH Port Łódź. The event will be held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Lodzkie Region, Grzegorz Schreiber.
